Sometimes, more is not enough. Despite the V6 Avantgarde in the C-Class and the 388 bhp V8 in the SL, customers still tend to ask for more. Which is why, late in 2008, on the back of a roadshow, Mercedes-Benz officially launched their AMG range in India. The Affalterbach based outfit of crazily tuned cars with the 3-pointed star began with the C63 AMG. The C63 provides space for a 6.3-litre V8 to nestle in the tight confines of the C-Class. It produces a staggering 451 bhp that can whisk it to 100 kph in less 5 seconds. Equally impressive is the amount of torque it produces and mated to the 7-G-Tronic box, it can make small work of any overtaking situation. The new SL with its 6.3-litre AMG engine too is impressive. Impressive enough to demolish the ton in 4.5 seconds and go on to a limited top speed of 250 kph. The 500 plus horsepower V8 is of the naturally aspirated variety that uses sheer displacement to propel it forward. With nearly the whole range of AMG cars now on offer in India, 2009 seems to be a veritable treat for the AMG enthusiast.
