MITSUBISHI CEDIA

This is a car that lives in the shadows of its SUV brethren. It doesn’t sell in decent numbers, nor does it have much spunk, but under all of that it is a rounded package. The Cedia is a generation up on the Lancer, so you get a wee more space, better build and better ride. The engine too is a bit more powerful, with 2.0-litre petrol delivering 115bhp. The engine isn’t as rev happy as its Japanese rivals, but it is torque and frugal for a car its size. The interior has a nice feel to it and is made of decent materials. Handling too is quite good with Mitsubishi opting for better rubber than the Lancer. Poor marketing and dealer support has meant the car is not quite visible, but if you are in the market for a practical, sensible, rugged executive saloon at an honest price, the Cedia ticks all those boxes.
