MITSUBISHI LANCER

This car belongs to an era when Tommi Makkinen was winning world titles left, right and centre. But our history books tell us, that was a decade ago. Since then, Tommi has retired from world rallying, but Mitsubishi India continues to sell it here, for reason unknown. It was a decent luxury saloon back then with good ride quality, handling and a tractable, yet efficient engine. Today, it can’t hide its age. Despite numerous facelifts, a 1.8-litre auto and CNG versions, the car hasn’t been able to get out of its ‘90s feel. The Lancer is available only with the original 88 bhp, 1.5-litre petrol that fleet operators prefer for reasons of efficiency. If you are still stuck in the ‘90s, we suggest you avoid painting it in Marlboro colors, lest people frown upon you.
